Lord over the Sabbath!

(CEV) Matthew 12:1-16 One Sabbath, Jesus and His disciples were walking through some wheat fields. His disciples were hungry and began picking and eating grains of wheat. Some Pharisees noticed this and said to Jesus, "Why are your disciples picking grain on the Sabbath? They are not supposed to do that!" Jesus answered: You surely must have read what David did when he and his followers were hungry. He went into the house of God, and then they ate the sacred loaves of bread that only priests are supposed to eat. Haven't you read in the Law of Moses that the priests are allowed to work in the temple on the Sabbath? But no one says that they are guilty of breaking the law of the Sabbath. I tell you that there is something here greater than the temple. Don't you know what the Scriptures mean when they say, "Instead of offering sacrifices to me, I want you to be merciful to others?" If you knew what this means, you would not condemn these innocent disciples of mine. So the Son of Man is Lord over the Sabbath. Jesus left and went into one of the Jewish meeting places, where there was a man whose hand was crippled. Some Pharisees wanted to accuse Jesus of doing something wrong, and they asked Him, "Is it right to heal someone on the Sabbath?" Jesus answered, "If you had a sheep that fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn't you lift it out? People are worth much more than sheep, and so it is right to do good on the Sabbath." Then Jesus told the man, "Hold out your hand." The man did, and it became as healthy as the other one. The Pharisees left and started making plans to kill Jesus. When Jesus found out what was happening, He left there and large crowds followed Him. He healed all of their sick, but warned them not to tell anyone about Him.

Mark 1:21-35 Jesus and His disciples went to the town of Capernaum. Then on the next Sabbath He went into the Jewish meeting place and started teaching. Everyone was amazed at His teaching. He taught with authority, and not like the teachers of the Law of Moses. Suddenly a man with an evil spirit in him, entered the meeting place and yelled, "Jesus from Nazareth, what do you want with us? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are! You are God's Holy One." Jesus told the evil spirit, "Be quiet and come out of the man!" The spirit shook him. Then it gave a loud shout and left. Everyone was completely surprised and kept saying to each other, "What is this? It must be some new kind of powerful teaching! Even the evil spirits obey Him." News about Jesus quickly spread all over Galilee. As soon as Jesus left the meeting place with James and John, they went home with Simon and Andrew. When they got there, Jesus was told that Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with fever. Jesus went to her. He took hold of her hand and helped her up. The fever left her, and she served them a meal. That evening after sunset, all who were sick or had demons in them were brought to Jesus. In fact, the whole town gathered around the door of the house. Jesus healed all kinds of terrible diseases and forced out a lot of demons. But the demons knew who He was, and He did not let them speak. Very early the next morning, Jesus got up and went to a place where He could be alone and pray.

Mark 6:1-6 Jesus left and returned to His hometown with His disciples. The next Sabbath He taught in the Jewish meeting place. Many of the people who heard Him were amazed and asked, "How can He do all this? Where did He get such wisdom and the power to work these miracles? Isn't He the carpenter, the son of Mary? Aren't James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon His brothers? Don't His sisters still live here in our town?" The people were very unhappy because of what He was doing. But Jesus said, "Prophets are honored by everyone, except the people of their hometown and their relatives and their own family." Jesus could not work any miracles there, except to heal a few sick people by placing His hands on them. He was surprised that the people did not have any faith. Jesus taught in all the neighboring villages. 15:42 It was now the evening before the Sabbath, and the Jewish people were getting ready for that sacred day.

Matthew 27:57-28:3 That evening a rich disciple named Joseph from the town of Arimathea went and asked for Jesus' body. Pilate gave orders for it to be given to Joseph, who took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth. Then Joseph put the body in his own tomb that had been cut into solid rock and had never been used. He rolled a big stone against the entrance to the tomb and went away. All this time Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting across from the tomb. On the next day, which was a Sabbath, the chief priests and the Pharisees went together to Pilate. They said, "Sir, we remember what that liar said while He was still alive. He claimed that in three days He would come back from death. So please order the tomb to be carefully guarded for three days. If you don't, His disciples may come and steal His body. They will tell the people that He has been raised to life, and this last lie will be worse than the first one." Pilate said to them, "All right, take some of your soldiers and guard the tomb as well as you know how." So they sealed it tight and placed soldiers there to guard it. The Sabbath was over, and it was almost daybreak on Sunday when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. Suddenly a strong earthquake struck, and the Lord's angel came down from heaven. He rolled away the stone and sat on it. The angel looked as bright as lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

A day of rest, the Sabbath, is a weekly cessation from work, commonly observed, with varying definitions, among many of the world's religions, especially the Judeo-Christian faiths, but also used in various secular purposes. (the dictionary's view)

The Sabbath day is sacred; it is holy. But one must understand that all Gods creation is sacred; that all humans washed by/in the blood of Jesus are holy. I personally attend Sabbath Day Fellowship, but, I do not think anyone will go to hell if they go on Sunday, or on Wednesday for that matter. The calendar did not exist in the human condition until 7 millennia ago, and the only timepiece was the seasons, the sun and moon! All these things, God created. Humans created the calendar! To link a thing to the past requires accurate calendar keeping, and so, when we think of ancient history, we have to keep that in mind; that, without the calendar, humans did not know what day it was, only what season it was in the region they lived/traveled. The idea of keeping one day per seven, holy; the Sabbath was more about our duty to spend time in prayer, meditation and contemplation in/with/about God. Before the Industrialization of Gods creation, humans worked hard, and so the purpose was to keep people from falling over dead, or becoming workaholics, and to remembering the time to honor God. When we become too legalistic about this, then we miss its intent, entirely. For me, its better to err on the side of caution, than to be in disobedience. If the Sabbath Day is Saturday, and I worship God with my Brethren on that day, what harm am I doing? Am I not devoting a day a week to the Lord? Is that not most important, regardless of the day? If it does not matter which day, then why is it such a big issue? Simple: The Godless-religious do not have the transforming epoch of the Indwelling Holy Spirit, who radically and profoundly changes our very existence on Earth! The Godless-religious are without Christ-in-them, and so, they're stuck in the dead legalism of Godless religion. In that state, they are still competitive little primates jockeying for position among the other hominids, and thus, picking sides is paramount to them, just as it is to all gang members! They are as children, wherein they believe in the "my dad can beat up your dad" kind of immaturity: They suffer from competitivism as all primates do! Legalism is but the end-consequence of the Godless-religious, just like it was with the Pharisees and Judaism. But we all must be careful not to make sweeping assumptions about what was of the Old Covenant, and of the New Covenant. Jesus said that He did not come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it. I see no reason or logic in not holding Fellowship on Saturday: what's the difference? Well, that's what this page seeks to answer!

For those of the Indwelling, everyday is holy; everyday we worship God! For those without the Indwelling Holy Spirit, hell is certain, no matter what day is selected! Jesus worshipped and taught in the temple on the Sabbath, that's good enough for me! Why contend over a day?! The idea that God changed the day to Sunday, hoewever, is not written (directly or indirectly) in Scripture; God does not communicate in vague generalities, and so, if Jesus wanted us to worship only on Sunday (the first day of the week; not the Sabbath day), the Word would say so clearly. We are to keep the Sabbath holy; that is, we are not to prostitute our time of Fellowship with God and brethren, with all the evil that this world represents, namely money. This is why Paul instructed the churches to bring in donations to the church-fellowships on Sunday; not so to make that the new day that we worship God, but on the day after Sabbath, so that, there is no business or labor being conducted; and certainly, no offering containers being passed before us during our time with and His Body. Jesus told the money-changers (as He flipped over their exchange tables) that they were defiling the temple; "The House of Prayer", on the Sabbath! They were bringing filthy lucre into a sacred place; this act offends God (and thus all Gods children), but the Godless-religious look forward to receiving your money on their selective day of worship: That's why they're there! The Sabbath is not just the day we corporately worship God in a church building on Saturday. We are to worship daily; we are to pray without ceasing; we are to keep the Sabbath holy. Keeping the Sabbath holy, is much like Communion or Baptism, it is not a requirement for salvation, but when our Spiritual Conversion is real, then the Indwelling leads us and compels us to obey Him in all things. Indeed, when your Love for God is sincere, you will want to please Him, you will be excited to! Thus, we keep the Sabbath holy, as well as being Baptized and regular Communion (which includes a good ole footwashing). The Godless-religious are much like the Godless ("the world" as Jesus referenced), in that, they do not have an actual Spiritual life; they do not have an intimate, personal relationship with God! Religion is a performance that they display to others, as a means of gaining resources to avoid labor, for the which, we need the rest from!

The other side of understanding Sabbath is to understand work... laboring... and the subsequent need for rest from such labor! As the Industrialization of Gods precious creation made life easier, the human followed along the path of least resistance; finding ways to NOT work! Of course, we today, have an entire socio-culture built off of this labor-free economy. But God did not will for us to go that way. God intended for us humans to remain simple upon this Earth; to work by the sweat of our brows the thing which is good. But then, God knew that the Godless would always outnumber the Godly, and so, God knew this outcome (and the Armageddon it will end in). The Industrialization of Earth was the beginning of the end for humanity. As the end nears, fewer and fewer humans come to Christ, even though populations soar. The is part of the end-time plan/prophesy; it must happen, and like Judas Iscariot, those who serve Satan in order to bring about Scriptures prophesies, are unaware of their participation, until the end of life; until they stand in Judgment (Matthew 7). Satan operates through humans who believe in Jesus Christ. The world does not need to be manipulated, for they willingly step over the Cross of the Messiah to enter into hell. Satan works through the church to keep people from knowing Jesus; religion will deceive more Souls than anything else (the seed-parable). And so, as the number of Godless humans began to dominate the globe, these humans (the Godless and the Godless-religious) began to look at Gods precious Creation; Earth, and all that's in it, as a personal resource that will make them rich, which makes them powerful and dominating. And so, these lazy Godless humans began to work together corporately, to find better ways of raping the planet. The end-result of this directive, was the Industrial Revolution; a revolution against God! They killed some 10 billion animals, cut down a trillion trees, mined under the earth; took the natural world and manipulated it chemically, until today; we live in/with plutonium, pollution and Global warming. But this was all seen in advance by God, who knew that humans would abandon Him, and seek their own ways, by the whisperings of the prince of this world.

The Godless-religious joined up with the Godless, who came to the America's to plunder it for personal gain; to kill, to steal and to destroy. The Godless-religious believe that, just because churches were built and people spoke Jesus' name with their lips, that the USA is a Christian Nation, but this blasphemy cannot enter the minds, nor exit the mouths of the Indwelled of God, this comes only from the Godless-religious of our time/culture. The Indwelled of God are not "proud" to be an American, we are all ashamed by the Godlessness that these Caucasian "Christians" (the Godless-religious) did to indigenous humans that were already here; and the land and the animals, all in Jesus' name! In fact, pride of this sort, is anti-Christ; for God so Loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son, to die for all humans everywhere. God owns the planet, and does not bless one portion of it over another; God does not recognize human borders; God does not inspire domination or plundering or patriotism! God does not get involved in religions just because the name "Jesus" (or any form of it) is associated with it. God Indwells individual humans as they surrender this life (and its ways, to serve Him), no matter what piece of Gods land protruding out of Gods oceans they're born or live on. It is all Gods; its not my land or your land! The USA was designed, ruled and built by the free masons, and all the big names of these Caucasian "Christians" were members!

Matthew 13:9-13 He who has ears to hear, let him hear. And the disciples said to Him, Why do You speak to them in parables? He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them. For whoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance. But whoever does not have, from him shall be taken away even that which he has. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not; nor do they understand.

Organizing Religious "Services" Around a Secular Society!

The Sabbath is like any other topic/issue over time; if it is not patently sinful or Biblically illegal, then we have liberty to compromise. This is how the Bible is attenuated slowly over time; virtually unnoticed. The Indwelled read Scripture and just follow it. The Godless-religious follow the culture around them, and then make the Bible fit that! The world is the core of their influence: They adapt their religion to fit their culture! The Scripture does not imply that we're to oppose legalism by purposefully changing the Sabbath to Sunday! Many have criticized the Amish for going out of their way to "look" separated from the world, while living in other ways, quite "yoked" with the world. I agree; if our lifestyle is just a front to make a point, then it has its own reward! However, it is too difficult to fake being Amish when ones true desire is to live a worldly lifestyle, though I'm sure that some Amish have the wrong motives. Even the Amish have succumb to the traditions of men, for most of them take Sabbath on Sunday! and so, we are either comformed to/by our culture, or, we are recreation's in Christ (we are born-again), and the way people change their life radically, or not, becomes the fruit on the tree that Jesus instructed us to look for (I.E: talk is a clanging cymbal, indeed!).

The Godless-religious look to the Bible to help them to justify their thoughts and actions. They must satisfy 3 things first; their ego/emotions, their belly/body, and, those who support them financially (materialistically). The modern-day materialistic Capitalist, who is employed by a local church, must then adapt this old religion to the new-age culture. These Godless-religious, look to God and the Bible to make their Earthly life better; rather than to surrender their Earthly life to be bond-slave unto the Lord Jesus Christ. They do not want to be common people (like the Body of Christ is), they want to be popular and idolized; they want their culture to give them the thumbs-up! Therefore, they have debt; they have mortgages and other material sins that God will judge them for. Because they do not have the Indwelling Holy Spirit, they seek the things of this world, and go into debt as a way to keep up with others (within their socio-culture) that they need and want to impress. Without an internal change, there is a need to absorb the external; without the living water provided by the Indwelling Holy Spirit, they need to get their resources; their self-worth and self-value, from the things of this world; from the worldly! They are the children of darkness, setting in the pews of churches. But we know who Gods Elect are, and who is not, by their Love, one for another, and by their complete disinterest in Satan's worldly things (temptations), represented in their lifestyles! All Gods Elect labor and build around nature as Gods stewards of Earth; we are given little to see what we will do with that, before we are given much; eternal life that is! God gave us a short life to live upon a fragile planet, to see what we would do with that; to se if we can handle an eternity with Gods children. If we rape and plunder in this life, it is not possible for us to be whom God wants us to be in eternity. Relationships, human to human, are the barometer of ones true Spiritual condition. With God-in-us, we become Jesus in the here & now; we become His legs & arms, His heart, His directives, and His lifestyle. Jesus Christ would not have taught or sought the Industrialization of Earth; Jesus would not seek to be a Pastoral star; Jesus would not live the typical Capitalist lifestyle; Jesus would not have any interest in anything most people spend their God-given resources and time, doing/buying! So why do humans live so far apart form where Jesus is, and yet, still think they're Christian; still think they are Heaven-bound? That's just how the evil one works; they're Matthew Seven Christians! Not only do they NOT believe that they're going to hell, they will be in (that) denial of going to hell, as they are in-route to hell; still trying to convince Jesus of their religiosity while parading down the widened Broadway that leads to the eternal abyss of outer darkness!

Indeed, when the crowds got too big and pressed-in upon Jesus, He got uncomfortable; He got stressed by the press! Conversely, the Pharisees, both then and now, liked the attention and the praise of/from the masses... they were/are stage seekers... they want to be seen of men! When the ego is not filled from within (via the Indwelling), it must get fed from without; the external, and thus, we have "The External Validation Syndrome"! (A topic I expound upon elsewhere in my writings: I also refer to it as the look-at-me syndrome)! In other words, people who do not have a personal relationship with God, via the Indwelling Holy Spirit, must then supplement their existence with what's missing because of it! This is the fruit-on-the-tree that Jesus was referring to. We can see it plainly, if we know what fruit looks like; we can know it simply, once the Holy Spirit Illuminates Life unto us, via the Indwelling. Jesus often said: those with an ear let him hear…that two people can hear the exact same thing, and yet, interpret it differently. This is called Spiritual discernment; a fruit of the Indwelling! Those who know (or gnosis) God, via that Indwelling, just know: However, those without that Indwelling Spirit, only knows about a thing; only has the (limited) human brain to see and hear with.

1st Corinthians 2:5-8 Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit, we speak wisdom among them that are perfect; yet not the wisdom of this world, or of the princes of this world, that come to naught: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew, for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
2nd Corinthians 10:3-7 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Do you look on things after the outward appearance?

So what does this have to do with being a Sabbatarian? Everything, once you understand the need to change the Sabbath Day. Keep this one thing in mind no matter what: Those of the Indwelling work hard with their bodies, thus needing a day to rest from it. Just as fasting reminds us of the suffering hunger that many humans endure for the lack of resources, thus giving us a sense of mercy and urgency in feeding them! The same is true with "the sweating of the brow" as one labors with his/her hands, providing food and shelter. God (in Genesis) created the entire universe and all that is in it (then rested), we mortals could hardly compare. To divide over which day to worship, reveals to God and humanity, the need to isolate God into a box we entitle with a day-name (Saturday/Sunday); it also reveals a sad level of pettiness! I for one, worship God everyday just the same. I do not Love God or worship God more on the Sabbath, than I do any other day of the week. The clock and the calendar are meaningless to God, as they will be meaningless in time-eternal! And so, this entire discussion is the product of the simpleton mind, which is simple because it is in darkness; this is why we all need the Indwelling Holy Spirit to illuminate Life; that which transcends time and space and matter! Only the Indwelling can show us the word of God, otherwise, it becomes a weapon and an excuse for the Godless-religious to maintain the (theological) justification for violating the Law of Love, as it should be witnessed in unity within the Body of Christ (Brethren, read John 17 daily; it IS the heart of Jesus). Our purpose here is to live as closely to that of our Lord, and let those who have no interest in living as we do, to be carried away with the dust that we shake from our feet. There are multitudes who will not accept Jesus Christ; they want the things of this world (all of it!), the last thing they want to do is live a humble, simple existence. The last thing they wish to do is labor and serve; they want to be fat, sedentary and have slaves serve them. They may not want to go to hell, but they are certainly not going to walk away from the pleasures of this life: they do not count the cost; the religions do not inform them of the cost of Discipleship, because they, too, profit from the successful in this world! But the entire tithe/tax directive (in truth, a misdirect), is a directive from the evil one: The slice-takers are the source of (and the resource for) all evil; be it in religion, be it in politics! The Godless (and the Godless-religious) are lazy creatures who live in perpetual disobedience to God; therefore, they justify taking monies and resources from other humans who labor for their sustenance with blood, sweat and tears: It is for those who labor and are heavy laden, that God made the Sabbath, so that we may rest our weary bones! God sentenced humans to toil the soil, as it were, but the cheaters will ever be with us.

Abandoning the Sabbath as a Concession to the World!

You see, as time past, Godlessness prevailed upon the earth; by the 1800s, only a small fraction of humanity belonged to Christ: Humans continuously sought the ways of the world; they fought for the freedom to live as they wish (Godlessly); they wanted to be free of the guilt being handed down constantly by the churches; by its religious men. Once the freedoms of men began to apply to all, God was forgotten (again!); likewise therefore, the freedom of religion lead to the spread of multitudes of religions, and Satan controlled them all, at one point. As Godlessness prevailed, the seeking of wealth via the raping of Earth (and thus the move to the America's and the subsequent Industrial Revolution); lead to Sodom's doom; indeed, just as feminism lead to rampant promiscuity, the pill and then abortion in our own time/culture. God gave freedom and volition to Adam & Eve, with the exception of one tree, and as human nature has it, they had to have that, too (and the weaker vessel is where Satan always begins)! This is (all) called "The Price of Freedom" (and sin is the price). You see, the Godless like freedom, that's why the Godless-religious support Militantism, Patriotism, Nationalism and so on; they participate with the rest of Gods creation, in conquer and containment; with economic inequality, bigotry and injustice (the working of iniquity). Indeed, Jesus Christ was thought to be the God-sent freedom-fighter that was to miraculously deliver the Jews from the Roman Imperialists, but instead, He said for everyone to live, as the cards of life are dealt them; let the slave be a better slave, so that he/she may win their masters to the true Master. Jesus was saying that this life means nothing to Gods children; we are pilgrims just passing through. Whatever fate is handed to you, those of the Indwelling can serve Christ in any situation (study the life of the Apostle Paul). But the Godless, and the Godless-religious, live only for this life, and therefore, they participate in the worlds ways; fighting, wars, land-bordering; economic inequality and domination (to mention a few). Unfortunately, there are multitudes of humans that are Matthew Seven Christians; they will live religiously, but will perish eternally. There is no rebirth; no metamorphosis, just a self-belief that requires church attendance, otherwise, the inherited life goes on unchanged for them. Why? They are not of Gods Elect, they see religion and God from the darkness of their own Soul, and as such, they see only this life; this life is all there is for them, and so they navigate herein, just the same as any animal does. And so, they live to make this life, the best it can be. But the Indwelling gives us the Light of the universe; we know that this life is but a blink of time, a blip on the radar, if you will. Therefore, we do not really care about this life in the way that the Godless do, for it is their all-in-all, and they treat it as such, in all their ways. Heaven and God are mere concepts; wish fulfillment, not full-on realities to them. They seek God for a purpose-driven life here & now, rather than living this life in sacrifice for Gods purposes: They're not bondservants to Christ, but they are slaves to corporeality (Satan's domain). God protects His servants, until their appointed time (to die); as long as we serve Christ volitionally, God can use us, and as long as God can use us, God will make sure we can get there! The comfort and convenience of the course is of no consequence to those of the Indwelling; the honor is to serve Christ, period!

Those of the Indwelling worship God the same everyday; the calendar does not dictate Love, service or devotion. The Sabbath, therefore, is about those who labor (and honor God in the doing), to rest from labor. And so, among the Godless-religious, the 1 day scheduled to worship God, is whatever day that's most convenient to their materialistic shopping schedule: Those who want/need to spend the bulk of their existence toiling for Earthly things; things that God never wants them to have in the first place; things to impress other humans and appease the ego, consequently. For those of the Indwelling; we labor with our hands for our base needs, thus, we do not go to the gym for exercise as a consequence of not laboring, or walking! We do not have any desire whatsoever, to go into debt for a wood box (a house) or a metal box (a car); we live simple, we eat simple, and by living as an organism (rather than an organization) we can pool our labors to further reduce the need for Caesar's coinage! The Lord Jesus taught that the Father would provide for us, food, clothing and simple shelter, and that we desire only these things. The rest of our (waking) lives are devoted to Gods word, prayer & meditation; to Spiritual and emotional maturation, and, to witness to others about the life and Love of our Lord Jesus Christ; to seek out the Elect of God, and begin a bond with them that will endure eternity. We are not to find out what form of Godlessness motivates a Godless person, and then try to employ that into our faith. This is marketing; this is mere church-building; pew-filling; tithe-procuring (what Jesus said of the Pharisees gaining proselytes): Behold, the fields are already ripe for harvest; pray for laborers (not pew warmers, who, in like manner, set on their ass for a living)! "Being all things to all men, that we might win some", was not in reference to Spiritual compromise; it was not a method of tricking someone into coming to our church, so that the tricked can be fleeced; so that the Pastor can feed them the Gospel, entertainingly. Satan has only the material world to manipulate us with (that is why Jesus called him the prince of this world), and so, if we desire anything herein, Satan owns us therein! We are to live daily, just like Jesus Christ and the Apostles lived, and, like the American Amish living among the Godless Capitalists, most humans will have no interest in following them/us, consequently. This is where predestination comes into play; where the Elect will be separated from the doomed. Hey, if they (the worldly) could not see God in Jesus, how can they see Jesus in me? Well, as hard as it is to accept, Jesus Himself answered that:

(CEV) John 15:16-19 You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last. Then my Father will give you whatever you ask for in my name. So I command you to Love each other. If the people of this world hate you, just remember that they hated me first. If you belonged to the world, its people would love you. But you don't belong to the world. I have chosen you to leave the world behind, and that's why its people hate you. Matthew 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

1st Peter 2:7-12 You are followers of the Lord, and that stone is precious to you. But it isn't precious to those who refuse to follow Him. They are the builders who tossed aside the stone that turned out to be the most important one of all. They disobeyed the message and stumbled and fell over that stone, because they were doomed. But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that He has done. The Scriptures say, "Once you were nobody. Now you are God's people. At one time no one had pity on you. Now God has treated you with kindness. Dear friends, you are foreigners and strangers on this Earth. So I beg you not to surrender to those desires that fight against you. Always let others see you behaving properly, even though they may still accuse you of doing wrong. Then on the day of Judgment, they will honor God by telling the good things they saw you do.

Luke 4:1-21 When Jesus returned from the Jordan River, the power of the Holy Spirit was with Him, and the Spirit led Him into the desert. For forty days Jesus was tested by the devil, and during that time He went without eating. When it was all over, He was hungry. The devil said to Jesus, "If you are God's Son, tell this stone to turn into bread." Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say, 'No one can live only on food.' " Then the devil led Jesus up to a high place and quickly showed Him all the nations on earth. The devil said, "I will give all this power and glory to you. It has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. Just worship me, and you can have it all." Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!' " Finally, the devil took Jesus to Jerusalem and had Him stand on top of the temple. The devil said, "If you are God's Son, jump off. The Scriptures say: 'God will tell his angels to take care of you. They will catch you in their arms, and you will not hurt your feet on the stones.' " Jesus answered, "The Scriptures also say, 'Don't try to test the Lord your God!' " After the devil had finished testing Jesus in every way possible, he left Him for a while. Jesus returned to Galilee with the power of the Spirit. News about Him spread everywhere. He taught in the Jewish meeting places, and everyone praised Him. Jesus went back to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and as usual He went to the meeting place on the Sabbath. When He stood up to read from the Scriptures, He was given the book of Isaiah the prophet. He opened it and read, "The Lord's Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the good news to the poor. The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers, and to say, 'This is the year the Lord has chosen.' " Jesus closed the book, then handed it back to the man in charge and sat down. Everyone in the meeting place looked straight at Jesus. Then Jesus said to them, "What you have just heard me read has come true today."

Luke 6:1-12 One Sabbath when Jesus and His disciples were walking through some wheat fields, the disciples picked some wheat. They rubbed the husks off with their hands and started eating the grain. Some Pharisees said, "Why are you picking grain on the Sabbath? You're not supposed to do that!" Jesus answered, "You surely have read what David did when he and his followers were hungry. He went into the house of God and took the sacred loaves of bread that only priests were supposed to eat. He not only ate some himself, but even gave some to his followers." Jesus finished by saying, "The Son of Man is Lord over the Sabbath." On another Sabbath Jesus was teaching in a Jewish meeting place, and a man with a crippled right hand was there. Some Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses kept watching Jesus to see if he would heal the man. They did this because they wanted to accuse Jesus of doing something wrong. Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he told the man to stand up where everyone could see him. And the man stood up. Then Jesus asked, "On the Sabbath should we do good deeds or evil deeds? Should we save someone's life or destroy it?" After he had looked around at everyone, he told the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did, and his bad hand became completely well. The teachers and the Pharisees were furious and started saying to each other, "What can we do about Jesus?" About that time Jesus went off to a mountain to pray, and he spent the whole night there.

Luke 13:10-17 One Sabbath, Jesus was teaching in a Jewish meeting place, and a woman was there who had been crippled by an evil spirit for eighteen years. She was completely bent over and could not straighten up. When Jesus saw the woman, he called her over and said, "You are now well." He placed his hands on her, and right away she stood up straight and praised God. The man in charge of the meeting place was angry because Jesus had healed someone on the Sabbath. So he said to the people, "Each week has six days when we can work. Come and be healed on one of those days, but not on the Sabbath." The Lord replied, "Are you trying to fool someone? Won't any one of you untie your ox or donkey and lead it out to drink on a Sabbath? This woman belongs to the family of Abraham, but Satan has kept her bound for eighteen years. Isn't it right to set her free on the Sabbath?" Jesus' words made his enemies ashamed. But everyone else in the crowd was happy about the wonderful things he was doing. 14:1-6 One Sabbath, Jesus was having dinner in the home of an important Pharisee, and everyone was carefully watching Jesus. All of a sudden a man with swollen legs stood up in front of him. Jesus turned and asked the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law of Moses, "Is it right to heal on the Sabbath?" But they did not say a word. Jesus took hold of the man. Then he healed him and sent him away. Afterwards, Jesus asked the people, "If your son or ox falls into a well, wouldn't you pull him out right away, even on the Sabbath?" There was nothing they could say.

Luke 23:44-56 Around noon the sky turned dark and stayed that way until the middle of the afternoon. The sun stopped shining, and the curtain in the temple split down the middle. Jesus shouted, "Father, I put myself in your hands!" Then He died. When the Roman officer saw what had happened, he praised God and said, "Jesus must really have been a good man!" A crowd had gathered to see the terrible sight. Then after they had seen it, they felt brokenhearted and went home. All of Jesus' close friends and the women who had come with Him from Galilee, stood at a distance and watched. There was a man named Joseph, who was from Arimathea in Judea. Joseph was a good and honest man, and he was eager for God's kingdom to come. He was also a member of the council, but he did not agree with what they had decided. Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. He took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in fine cloth. Then he put it in a tomb that had been cut out of solid rock and had never been used. It was Friday, and the Sabbath was about to begin. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and watched how Jesus' body was placed in the tomb. Then they went to prepare some sweet-smelling spices for his burial. But on the Sabbath they rested, as the Law of Moses commands.

    Acts 2:38-47 Peter said unto them: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying: Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. {This was daily, or on any given day; not exclusively on the Sabbath: to God everyday is the same; not exclusive to Jews or to those of that time or culture, but to all everywhere of all timelines, as the Lord calls!}

Hebrews 4: The promise to enter the place of rest is still good, and we must take care that none of you miss out. We have heard the message, just as they did. But they failed to believe what they heard, and the message did not do them any good. Only people who have faith will enter the place of rest. It is just as the Scriptures say, "God became angry and told the people, 'You will never enter my place of rest!' " God said this, even though everything has been ready from the time of creation. In fact, somewhere the Scriptures say that by the seventh day, God had finished his work, and so he rested. We also read that he later said, "You people will never enter my place of rest!" This means that the promise to enter is still good, because those who first heard about it disobeyed and did not enter. Much later God told David to make the promise again, just as I have already said, "If you hear his voice today, don't be stubborn!" If Joshua had really given the people rest, there would not be any need for God to talk about another day of rest. But God has promised us a Sabbath when we will rest, even though it has not yet come. On that day God's people will rest from their work, just as God rested from his work. We should do our best to enter that place of rest, so that none of us will disobey and miss going there, as they did. What God has said isn't only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts. Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and we will have to tell Him the truth. We have a great high priest, who has gone into Heaven, and He is Jesus the Son of God. That is why we must hold on to what we have said about Him. Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because He was tempted in every way that we are. But He did not sin! So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There, we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help.

Hebrews 10: The Law of Moses is like a shadow of the good things to come. This shadow isn't the good things themselves, because it cannot free people from sin by the sacrifices that are offered year after year. If there were worshipers who already have their sins washed away and their consciences made clear, there would not be any need to go on offering sacrifices. But the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. It only reminds people of their sins from one year to the next. When Christ came into the world, he said to God, "Sacrifices and offerings are not what you want, but you have given me my body. No, you are not pleased with animal sacrifices and offerings for sin." Then Christ said, "And so, my God, I have come to do what you want, as the Scriptures say." The Law teaches that offerings and sacrifices must be made because of sin. But why did Christ mention these things and say that God did not want them? Well, it was to do away with offerings and sacrifices and to replace them. That is what he meant by saying to God, "I have come to do what you want." So we are made holy because Christ obeyed God and offered himself once for all. The priests do their work each day, and they keep on offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. But Christ offered himself as a sacrifice that is good forever. Now he is sitting at God's right side, and he will stay there until his enemies are put under his power. By his one sacrifice he has forever set free from sin the people he brings to God. The Holy Spirit also speaks of this by telling us that the Lord said, "When the time comes, I will make an agreement with them. I will write my laws on their minds and hearts. Then I will forget about their sins and no longer remember their evil deeds." When sins are forgiven, there is no more need to offer sacrifices. My friends, the blood of Jesus gives us courage to enter the most holy place by a new way that leads to life! And this way takes us through the curtain that is Christ himself. We have a great high priest who is in charge of God's house. So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water. We must hold tightly to the hope that we say is ours. After all, we can trust the one who made the agreement with us. We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things. Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord's coming is getting closer. No sacrifices can be made for people who decide to sin after they find out about the truth. They are God's enemies, and all they can look forward to is a terrible judgment and a furious fire. If two or more witnesses accused someone of breaking the Law of Moses, that person could be put to death. But it is much worse to dishonor God's Son and to disgrace the blood of the promise that made us holy. And it is just as bad to insult the Holy Spirit, who shows us mercy. We know that God has said he will punish and take revenge. We also know that the Scriptures say the Lord will judge his people. It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God! Don't forget all the hard times you went through when you first received the light. Sometimes you were abused and mistreated in public, and at other times you shared in the sufferings of others. You were kind to people in jail. And you gladly let your possessions be taken away, because you knew you had something better, something that would last forever. Keep on being brave! It will bring you great rewards. Learn to be patient, so that you will please God and be given what he has promised. As the Scriptures say, "God is coming soon! It won't be very long. The people God accepts will live because of their faith. But he isn't pleased with anyone who turns back." We are not like those people who turn back and get destroyed. We will keep on having faith until we are saved.

    Trapped in Traditions!

It is to the degree that each individual becomes convicted about a particular thing, that the individual then follow his/her own convictions on the matter. Many church-religions do not hold Communion; many more do not include footwashing as an integral part of that Ordinance. And so, until the individual is convicted about the issue of the Sabbath, they will likely not be any more convicted about Communion or any other devotion Ordinance. Still, I believe that grace is an important element in these issues. In this case, I believe that there is a blend of obedience and grace; that if you do not worship on the Sabbath, but on another day, that the Lord is gracious in this matter. The point is more than the day in which we gather together to worship the Lord corporately, because we worship the Lord, not in song or church attendance, but in keeping the Sabbath holy, no matter what else we do on that day. We are not to become so legalistic that we divide over; that we de-nominate one another just because our Fellowship differs in a day. This same basic idea of "grace in minutia", applies to ones diet, what cultural festivals and celebrations are shared, and so on. I personally do not celebrate Christmas, as do the Godless Capitalists who use that celebration to increase their filthy lucre; the idea of mass-materializing on Christ's celebrated birthday, is beyond sacrilegious, it is demonic! I would never want to indoctrinate children with a link between Jesus Christ and Capitalism. And so, my participation in Christmas is limited to fellowshipping, shared meals and the sharing of Gods word, corporately. I do not buy or receive gifts, as I was expected to as a child, indoctrinated into my culture. Likewise, I do not celebrate Easter or any other pagan festivals, and yet, I do not think that those who do, are bad or evil or need to be excommunicated (though I do think they're misguided). In other words, we can all agree on the most important elements of Christ Crucified, and leave minutia to the Lord; that's grace! When we hold up our particular brand of religion, we are showing our own arrogance; that we were wise enough to select and attend the right church or denomination, and so we are right, and all the others are...well...not! The Body of Christ is one; therefore, those who are not one with it, are not Saved; they are not Christ's. The proof of the Indwelling is not found in correct minutia, but in Love and grace and longsuffering, concerning the Brethren, as we all reach for the perfection that manifests in an eternal unity that begins in the here and now (should you volition it to be so)! And so, our lifestyle and our daily choices must be a reflection of what we believe Jesus would do, so that the Godless, and the Godless-religious, will have the opportunity to see what it is to live Christ on Earth. They may never follow, but they will at least, have the model set before them.

(CEV) Colossians 2: I want you to know what a struggle I am going through for you, for God's people at Laodicea, and for all of those followers who have never met me: I do it to encourage them. Then as their hearts are joined together in Love, they will be wonderfully blessed with complete understanding. And they will truly know Christ. Not only is He the key to God's mystery, but all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in Him. I tell you these things to keep you from being fooled by fancy talk. Even though I am not with you, I keep thinking about you. I'm glad to know that you are living as you should and that your faith in Christ is strong. You have accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord: Now keep on following Him. Plant your roots in Christ and let Him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just as you were taught. And be grateful. Don't let anyone fool you by using senseless arguments. These arguments may sound wise, but they are only human teachings. They come from the powers of this world and not from Christ. God lives fully in Christ. And you are fully grown because you belong to Christ, who is over every power and authority. Christ has also taken away your selfish desires, just as circumcision removes flesh from the body. And when you were baptized, it was the same as being buried with Christ. Then you were raised to life because you had faith in the power of God, who raised Christ from death. You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God's people. But God let Christ make you alive, when He forgave all our sins. God wiped out the charges that were against us for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross. There Christ defeated all powers and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when He celebrated His victory. Don't let anyone tell you what you must eat or drink. Don't let them say that you must celebrate the New Moon festival, the Sabbath festival, or any other festival. These things are only a shadow of what was to come. But Christ is real! Don't be cheated by people who make a show of acting humble and who worship angels. They brag about seeing visions. But it is all nonsense, because their minds are filled with selfish desires. They are no longer part of Christ, who is the Head of the whole body. Christ gives the body its strength, and He uses its joints and muscles to hold it together, as it grows by the power of God. You died with Christ. Now the forces of the universe don't have any power over you. Why do you live as if you had to obey such rules as, "Don't handle this. Don't taste that. Don't touch this."? After these things are used, they are no longer good for anything. So why be bothered with the rules that humans have made up? Obeying these rules may seem to be the smart thing to do. They appear to make you love God more and to be very humble and to have control over your body. But they don't really have any power over our desires.

Isaiah 58: Shout the message! Don't hold back. Say to my people Israel: You've sinned! You've turned against the LORD. Day after day, you worship Him and seem eager to learn His teachings. You act like a nation that wants to do right by obeying His laws. You ask Him about justice, and say you enjoy worshiping the LORD. You wonder why the LORD pays no attention when you go without eating and act humble. But on those same days that you give up eating, you think only of yourselves and abuse your workers: You even get angry and ready to fight. No wonder God won't listen to your prayers! Do you think the LORD wants you to give up eating and to act as humble as a bent-over bush? Or to dress in sackcloth and sit in ashes? Is this really what He wants on a day of worship? I'll tell you what it really means to worship the LORD: Remove the chains of prisoners who are chained unjustly. Free those who are abused! Share your food with everyone who is hungry; share your home with the poor and homeless. Give clothes to those in need; don't turn away your relatives. Then your light will shine like the dawning sun, and you will quickly be healed. Your honesty will protect you as you advance, and the glory of the LORD will defend you from behind. When you beg the LORD for help, He will answer: "Here I am!" Don't mistreat others or falsely accuse them or say something cruel. Give your food to the hungry and care for the homeless. Then your light will shine in the dark; your darkest hour will be like the noonday sun. The LORD will always guide you and provide good things to eat when you are in the desert; He will make you healthy. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water or like a stream that never runs dry. You will rebuild those houses left in ruins for years; you will be known as a builder and repairer of city walls and streets. But first, you must start respecting the Sabbath as a joyful day of worship. You must stop doing and saying whatever you please on this special day. Then you will truly enjoy knowing the LORD. He will let you rule from the highest mountains and bless you with the land of your ancestor Jacob. The LORD has spoken!

    SABBATH DAY (by John Calvin)
REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY TO KEEP IT HOLY. SIX DAYS SHALT THOU LABOR AND DO ALL THY WORK: BUT THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF THE LORD THY GOD. IN IT THOU SHALT NOT DO ANY WORK...
The purport of the commandment is, that being dead to our own affections and works, we meditate on the kingdom of God, and in order to such meditation, have recourse to the means which he has appointed. But as this commandment stands in peculiar circumstances apart from the others, the mode of exposition must be somewhat different. Early Christian writers are wont to call it typical, as containing the external observance of a day which was abolished with the other types on the advent of Christ. This is indeed true; but it leaves the half of the matter untouched. Wherefore, we must look deeper for our exposition, and attend to three cases in which it appears to me that the observance of this commandment consists. First, under the rest of the seventh days the divine Lawgiver meant to furnish the people of Israel with a type of the spiritual rest by which believers were to cease from their own works, and allow God to work in them. Secondly he meant that there should be a stated day on which they should assemble to hear the Law, and perform religious rites, or which, at least, they should specially employ in meditating on his works, and be thereby trained to piety. Thirdly, he meant that servants, and those who lived under the authority of others, should be indulged with a day of rest, and thus have some intermission from labor.
We are taught in many passages that this adumbration of spiritual rest held a primary place in the Sabbath. Indeed, there is no commandment the observance of which the Almighty more strictly enforces. When he would intimate by the Prophets that religion was entirely subverted, he complains that his Sabbaths were polluted, violated, not kept, not hallowed; as if, after it was neglected, there remained nothing in which he could be honored. The observance of it he eulogizes in the highest terms, and hence, among other divine privileges, the faithful set an extraordinary value on the revelation of the Sabbath. In Nehemiah, the Levites, in the public assembly, thus speak: "Thou madest known unto them thy holy Sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant." You see the singular honor which it holds among all the precepts of the Law. All this tends to celebrate the dignity of the mystery, which is most admirably expressed by Moses and Ezekiel. Thus in Exodus: Verily my Sabbaths shall ye keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that does sanctify you. Ye
